Our client in the plumbware wholesale and distribution sector is seeking a dynamic Procurement Manager to join their fast-paced team in Johannesburg. The role focuses on sourcing from China, India and other international markets, expanding the own-brand range and driving supplier performance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of procurement leadership experience in plumbing/hardware sectors, strong negotiation skills and willingness to travel internationally for supplier visits and audits.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Purchasing, Business Administration or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years' procurement management experience within the plumbing, sanitaryware, hardware, building materials or wholesale distribution industry
• Proven experience sourcing products from China, India and other international markets
• Strong knowledge of international procurement, import/export procedures, Incoterms and customs documentation
• Experience with inventory planning, demand forecasting and landed cost management
• Strong commercial negotiation skills and supplier relationship management experience
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SYSPRO advantageous) and Microsoft Excel
• Willing and able to travel internationally for supplier visits, factory audits and trade shows

Responsibilities

• Source and negotiate with local and international suppliers, with a strong focus on China, India and other overseas markets
• Develop and expand the company's own-brand product range
• Identify new products and market opportunities through research, supplier engagement and international travel
• Manage supplier performance, quality standards and compliance requirements
• Oversee inventory planning, forecasting and procurement to ensure stock availability
• Manage landed costs, import logistics, shipping schedules and customs compliance
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while driving cost savings and margin improvement
• Lead and develop the buying function, including mentoring the Junior Buyer
• Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Quality Control to ensure the product offering meets market demand
