ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Review current supplier base to ensure we are buying products from the correct supplier at the right price based on volumes.
- Manage all communications with suppliers regarding payment terms, discounts, and bulk purchases, including ad hoc supplier visits.
- Review COD supply base and ensure that where possible we are purchasing from a current vendor instead of new suppliers.
- Open accounts where necessary to streamline payments to monthly instead of daily.
- Establish and enforce supplier agreements.
- Review warehouse stock together with the storeman to ensure proper stock management and timely re-ordering.
- Investigate local procurement versus overseas procurement and promote sourcing locally to support BEE initiatives.
- Ensure all procurement is based on an approved BOM.
- Participate in project procurement meetings to ensure timely procurement and meet customer expectations.
- Continuously review and improve procurement processes.
- Manage open purchase orders on SAP, ensuring accuracy and timely closure.
- Manage the Procurement department and staff.
- Participate actively in supplier performance reviews.
- Ensure continuous supply of goods and materials, and communicate any supply risks or issues impacting business operations.
- Research opportunities to reduce costs and improve procurement efficiency.
- Deliver briefs, updates, and reports as required.
- Maintain a professional and consistent approach in all supplier relationships.
- Explore alternative sources for goods and materials.
- Resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues with suppliers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Diploma in Procurement is advantageous; minimum tertiary qualification in Electrical training is beneficial.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in electrical procurement.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel.
- Proactive in responding to internal customer requests, developing positive relationships.
- Results-oriented, takes initiative, demonstrates urgency, and tracks performance.
- Strong commercial understanding of procurement processes.
