Job description

The Procurement Assistant will actively participate in the buying and sourcing of all packaging materials and components required for production. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to meet strategic company objectives as well as drive efficiency and cost reduction. This role is based in Amanzimtoti and the office in Umhlanga and has the following job functions, including but not limited to:

  1. Order management
  2. Placing orders for packaging, consumables, and project-related items, both local and import
  3. Tracking open orders
  4. Expediting, pushing, and pulling orders
  5. Managing call-off lists for stock-holding suppliers
  6. Inputting shipment dates from the forwarder tracker to review whether shipments are on track
  7. Coordinating materials to/from 3PLs to fulfill orders
  8. Managing out-of-stock situations
  9. Overseeing returns to suppliers and reject stock for replacement
  10. Assisting with local and import sourcing and quote requests
  11. Maintaining imports tracker with payment and delivery dates and reporting on overdue items, as well as on items affecting launch dates and the innovation tracker
  12. Placing import orders and sending them to suppliers
  13. Overseeing the scheduling and documentation of all imports/exports
  14. Assisting with obtaining estimates from forwarders and calculating landed costs
  15. Supporting admin checklist for new product launches to ensure all steps are completed
  16. Briefing suppliers on colour matches and following through until final sign-off
  17. Preparing and sending weekly Christmas imports delivery schedules to the planning and gifting team
  18. Liaising with the Activation team regarding point of sale requirements, requesting quotes, and submitting for approval
  19. Maintaining the POS tracker and delivery dates with suppliers
  20. Assisting with innovation and gifting sample requests and tracking
  21. Maintaining and updating the supplier list
  22. Assisting in sourcing and vetting new suppliers

Desired Experience and Qualifications

  • Must have a BSc or BCom or similar qualification
  • Advanced Excel skills will be beneficial

Location

Amanzimtoti / Umhlanga (Please note that this role is 100% office-based). Umhlanga two days per week, and Amanzimtoti three days per week, though this may change as required.

Candidates will only be interviewed upon successful completion of a numeracy assessment.
