A leading plastic injection moulding company based in Germiston is seeking a certified and experienced Processing Team Leader to lead and oversee all machine-setting and production-related activities within our high-performance manufacturing environment.
This position requires a hands-on leader with strong technical, administrative, and organisational skills, and extensive knowledge in setting and optimising injection moulding machines. The successful candidate must be able to manage a team, drive production performance, and ensure product quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the processing department, including all machine setters and support staff.
• Set, optimise, and troubleshoot plastic injection moulding machines for various products and materials.
• Ensure machines are set according to standard operating procedures and customer specifications.
• Implement process improvements to maximise output, quality, and efficiency.
• Oversee changeovers, setups, and startup processes.
• Maintain detailed processing records and ensure compliance with production schedules.
• Enforce safety, quality, and housekeeping standards across the department.
• Liaise with production planning, maintenance, and quality control teams.
• Provide technical support and training to staff on processing standards.
Minimum Requirements:
• Certified in Injection Moulding Process or Equivalent Qualification.
• 10+ years’ experience in plastic injection moulding, with at least 5 years in a management / team leader role.
• In-depth knowledge of various plastic resins, mould types, and machine brands.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent understanding of mould changeovers, cycle optimisation, and defect prevention.
• Proficient in administrative tasks, reporting, and production documentation.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
