Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To support the Production Superintendent in managing plant operations effectively and efficiently, ensuring sustainable operations that comply with SHEQ, cost, and volume targets. The Process Specialist also drives continuous improvement of the metallurgical process through reporting, analysis, recommendations, and project implementation in a safe manner.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• B.Eng. / BSc. Eng. Degree or N Diploma.
• At least 4 years’ relevant experience in heavy industry, preferably including 2 years in a managerial role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety, Health, Environment and Quality:

• Identify and assess risk exposures in your area, considering business, financial, legal, personnel, equipment, material, environmental, and process risks.
• Apply mitigation strategies and control measures for residual risks, setting objectives and minimum requirements.
• Manage SHEQ compliance using the Toolbox effectively.
• Use the Information Management System (IMS) to report and investigate SHEQ status.

Customers:

• Define and monitor critical process control parameters to ensure process quality.
• Ensure customer satisfaction and manage SLA measurements through regular discussions with internal customers, maintaining production capacity at minimum lifecycle costs.

Business Processes:

• Develop and implement process management strategies.
• Manage process budgets and investigate failures through Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
• Update GSAP Master Data and manage critical metallurgical parameters.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage capital projects.
• Oversee process shutdown activities and data analysis for process optimization.
• Benchmark industry practices and manage the 5S system.

• Understanding of Pelletizing and Sintering processes and equipment.
• Knowledge of metallurgy, mass balances, refractories, and comminution principles.
• Familiarity with SHE legislation, employment law, basic engineering, and business administration including costs and finance.
