Process Engineering Manager Pietermaritzburg

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to ensure that the Manufacturing standards and customer specifications in Operations are defined and adhered to.

R40 - R45

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Elimination of waste: Drive ME Improvement objectives by analyzing lost time using relevant problem-solving techniques. Monitor & reduce scrap (including TQM processes). Ensure timely planning and implementation of improvements. Drive targets through ME and TQM processes to reduce downtime and poor quality costs. Ensure improvement targets align with budgets. Promote Kaizen initiatives with A3 problem-solving activities to eliminate waste and improve quality and output.
2. 5S: Ensure 5S principles are always practiced and implemented, especially on new lines, to sustain improvements.
3. Health, Safety and Environment: Comply with all applicable regulations. Evaluate processes and equipment for environmental and safety compliance. Promote a safe workplace and environmental initiatives. Ensure PPE & PPC are used correctly across all areas.
4. Quality: Meet or exceed customer requirements, ensuring products meet specifications. Identify and mitigate quality risks. Approve manufacturing processes and equipment. Assist in trials to meet internal and customer standards.
5. Delivery: Develop and optimize processes from inception to customer approval. Design and implement equipment layouts. Focus on process optimization to reduce downtime and improve quality. Support APQP to meet customer requirements within project budgets. Establish safety procedures and control process parameters. Conduct process capability studies and manage process changes. Ensure team attendance aligns with production targets.
6. People Development: Oversee personal development in line with company strategy. Conduct performance reviews and manage IDPs. Maintain training records.
7. General: Follow all instructions and uphold company vision, values, policies, and procedures. Act in the company's best interest.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

• Technical Skills: Knowledge of MS Office, problem-solving methodologies, manufacturing excellence systems, press and moulding tools, process parameters, environmental and safety regulations.
• Experience: CAD, measuring equipment, production engineering, 5-10 years' experience in process engineering, minimum 3 years managerial experience.
• Qualifications: Grade 12 (Critical).
