Job summary

Network Recruitment in Johannesburg is seeking a commercially minded process engineer to bridge technical solutions with customer needs. You will prepare proposals for water and wastewater projects, engage clients to determine requirements, and support business development with technical presentations.

You will conduct process evaluations and feasibility studies, perform design calculations, and liaise with engineering teams throughout project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
• 3–5 years' experience in process engineering or water treatment.
• Experience preparing proposals, tenders or technical sales docs.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Knowledge of filtration, RO, UF or wastewater treatment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel nationally.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and prepare technical and commercial proposals for water and wastewater treatment projects.
• Engage directly with clients to understand process requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
• Support business development activities through technical presentations and client meetings.
• Conduct process evaluations, site assessments, and feasibility studies.
• Assist with tender submissions, bid clarification meetings, and proposal negotiations.
• Perform process design calculations, mass balances, and equipment sizing.
• Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), process descriptions, and technical documentation.
• Liaise with multidisciplinary engineering teams during project execution.
• Provide process support during commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimisation activities.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and identify opportunities for future business growth.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in process engineering, water treatment, wastewater treatment, or a related industry.
• Experience preparing proposals, tenders, quotations, or technical sales documentation.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Sound understanding of water treatment processes such as filtration, RO, UF, wastewater treatment, chemical dosing, or similar technologies.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel nationally when required.

Advantageous Experience

• Exposure to industrial water treatment, wastewater treatment, desalination, or process plant environments.
• Experience with technical sales, business development, or applications/proposal engineering.
• Knowledge of process simulation, P&IDs, process design, and costing methodologies.
• Experience engaging with mining, manufacturing, municipal, food & beverage, or industrial clients.
