Job Summary :
We are seeking a Process Engineer with experience as a setter and leadership in a press shop environment. The role involves operating various machines to perform assigned tasks. A successful press shop setter should possess manual dexterity, an eye for detail, and knowledge of mathematics and mechanics, along with a strong commitment to safety. The primary goal is to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures.

Responsibilities and accountabilities :
- Prepare and calibrate machinery for producing various press parts.
- Operate machinery and maintain presses to meet product specifications.
- Examine and interpret drawings for products to be produced.
- Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand output specifications.
- Plan the sequence of actions needed to complete a job.
- Follow all safety protocols.
- Ensure proper maintenance, safety, and functioning of all equipment.
- Select appropriate machines and load materials for a job.
- Determine and program batch sizes, machine speed, etc.
- Monitor machines during operation to adjust feeds, maintain temperature, and identify issues.
- Check output for consistency with specifications and discard defective items.
- Keep records of approved and defective units or final products.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs.
Required qualifications, skills, and traits :
- Mechanical qualification (e.g., N3, N6, Trade Certificate, etc.).
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a metal processing environment, including:
- Metal stamping.
- CNC machinery operation.
- Commercial welding.
- Previous supervisory or team-leading experience is advantageous.
- Proven experience as a machinist in a press shop environment.
- Experience with manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, etc.).
- Ability to use precision tools (e.g., callipers) for accurate measurements.
- Knowledge of metal and other material properties.
- Ability to read drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items.
- Matric or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship is a plus.
- Ability to manage administrative tasks independently.
