Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Engineer for a Rustenburg, North West role to optimize chemical production, improve yields, and reduce energy use. You will drive safety, reliability, and efficiency across the manufacturing processes.

You will collaborate with R&D and operations to scale lab process improvements to pilot and full production, while maintaining equipment specifications and process diagrams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical manufacturing industry.
• Strong understanding of chemical processes, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mass.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, yield, and product quality.
• Conduct PHAs and implement safety improvements to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Monitor process performance using data analysis and implement adjustments to maintain optimal operating conditions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, identifying root causes and developing effective solutions.
• Collaborate with R&D and operations teams to scale up new processes from lab to pilot plant and full production.
• Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and equipment specifications.
• Identify opportunities for energy reduction and implement process improvements to minimize environmental impact.
• Provide technical support and training to plant operators and maintenance personnel.
• Stay current with technological advancements in chemical engineering and process control.
• Manage small to medium-sized engineering projects, ensuring completion within budget and schedule.
