Select how often (in days) to receive an alert : Category : Supply Chain and Operations Country / Region : ZA State : City : Springs Workplace : Onsite Title : Process Engineer Description : ROLE DESCRIPTION Title : Process Engineer - Springs Operations Function & Business Unit : Springs Manufacturing, MENAT-SSA BU Reports to : Operations Manager Springs Purpose of the role The Process Engineer is responsible for identifying and eliminating losses / waste, reducing Process Variability, and improving OEE across Process by leveraging KWS methodologies, while maintaining high standards in Safety and Quality & Food Safety.
He / she manages Change within the 'Process' area, including operational training, trials, projects, and start-up management.
The incumbent is expected to carry out lawful duties as assigned.
Limited travel may be required.
Working Relationships Reports to the Springs Manufacturing Manager No direct reports Partners with all Plant / CSL Departments Leverages R&D and Central Engineering resources Interacts with Raw Material suppliers Participates in KWS Centers of Excellence (mainly AM and / or CIPO) Principal Duties & Responsibilities Environmental, Health and Safety Promotes a Health and Safety culture using GEMBA, Safety Tours, and Leader-led observation programs.
Ensures compliance with EHS rules, policies, and procedures, addressing concerns proactively.
Assists in root cause analysis of incidents and implements risk mitigation actions.
Quality and Food Safety Promotes Food Safety & Quality culture, leveraging GEMBA & Golden 6 Tours.
Ensures adherence to Food Safety & Quality policies, addressing concerns proactively.
Supports a 'run-to-target' strategy, reduces Process Variability, and participates in daily food reviews.
Collaborates with R&D on recipe upgrades and Process Control strategies, working with suppliers to reduce incoming material variability.
Participates in root cause analysis of process incidents and hazards.
People Facilitates clear communication across Operations and the plant.
Builds process capability, linked to loss elimination and Management of Change.
Coaches Relief Operators in troubleshooting and loss elimination.
KWS Participates in KWS CoE teams, owns critical Daily Management Systems, and builds operator technical capability.
Ensures follow-up on critical DMSs and drives Autonomous Maintenance and Equipment Ownership.
Implements SmartFactory applications, providing training and troubleshooting.
Shares learnings across facilities to improve practices.
Manufacturing and Operational Efficiency Owns OEE improvement and loss elimination for 'Process' area, analyzing trends and developing action plans.
Manages capacity planning, throughput opportunities, and debottlenecking projects.
Owns the Kellanova Integrated Margin Management pipeline.
Gives input on design reviews, manages R&D / Engineering projects, and ensures documentation updates and training for Management of Change.
Preferred Education, Skill & Experience Grade 12 or equivalent, with a Diploma or Degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant qualification.
3-5 years of experience in process improvement in manufacturing.
Skills Planning, organization, attention to detail, safety awareness, and work management.
Adaptability, proactive action, continuous learning, stress tolerance, and high work standards.
Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
Team contribution, leadership, knowledge sharing, and participation encouragement.
Technical Knowledge Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Minitab / Matlab, Six Sigma / LEAN, problem-solving, and SAP.
