Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

1. Gain the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute to NYSHEX’s success and own the execution of your projects with minimal guidance.
2. Own the planning, development, quality control, stakeholder involvement, and documentation of new analytical algorithms, processes, and features that generate valuable insights for our users and are implemented across our Engineering and Operations teams.
3. Continuously seek improvements to current processes and communicate effectively with teammates and stakeholders about areas needing attention.
4. Implement designed algorithms using low-code tools such as Alteryx or Dataiku.
5. Collaborate closely with NYSHEX Engineering and Product teams to automate manual processes, enhancing user experience and efficiency.
6. Develop detailed documentation to enable effective operation of algorithms and processes by operators.
7. Be prepared to mentor and guide junior team members.
8. Support other core operational processes as needed.

Qualifications

You are a great candidate if you have:

• A BS degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Analytics, Business).
• 4+ years of experience in a highly analytical role or an advanced degree in a related field.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and experience working with large datasets.
• Experience creating data models in Excel or similar software.
• Familiarity with low-code analytics platforms like Alteryx or Dataiku.
• The ability to communicate complex insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative spirit.
• The ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

You are an exceptional candidate if you also have:

• Experience with SQL and data analysis tools such as PowerBI or Tableau.
• Experience coding in Python, SQL, or similar languages, and designing algorithms for various use cases.
• Prior experience in the Ocean Freight industry.
