The Colorado Judicial Branch seeks a Probation Officer to perform entry-level responsibilities including client assessments, supervision, and case management. The Judicial Department aims to provide equal access to justice, promote public safety, and uphold the rule of law across Colorado. Our courts and probation departments are dedicated to impartial dispute resolution, supporting families, victims, and litigants, client rehabilitation, and community engagement.
Performs entry-level Probation Officer responsibilities, including investigation, assessment, supervision, resource coordination, and monitoring clients' court-ordered services. Completes required training.
This is a full-time, in-office position with openings in multiple locations within the district. Opportunities for flexible scheduling may be available after successful completion of the probationary period. Current Judicial Department employees are encouraged to refer qualified candidates. A referral award may be available, paid in two installments after the new hire completes one month and one year of service.
To perform this role successfully, individuals must be able to:
Occasional supervision of support staff or interns. Work is typically semi-complex and involves interactions that may influence policy implementation, negotiation, or involve sensitive issues. Some interactions may be stressful or require tact.
Requires comprehensive knowledge of work processes, capable of handling complex tasks independently.
Assist in data collection for budget recommendations and monitor division or program budgets.
Education and experience can be combined as follows:
Work-related experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, or psychology is required. No licenses or certifications are mandatory. Physical effort includes occasional lifting up to 35 pounds and frequent movement of objects. Work environment may include outside work and exposure to hazards, including hostile individuals, communicable diseases, and bodily fluids.
