Job Summary

To build and maintain professional business relationships with a portfolio of Private Wealth clients, achieve financial targets, proactively acquire new clients, and improve customer experience, all within the Bank’s risk, regulatory, and compliance frameworks.

Job Description

Accountability: Build customer relationships in the preferred market segments:

  • Own the primary relationship with clients, acting as the main contact point, and collaborate with specialists (e.g., financial and estate planners) to deliver our full value proposition.
  • Achieve contact strategy targets based on client segmentation of your portfolio.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute client relationship plans to understand client needs and ensure you hold the primary relationship.
  • Secure new business through engagement with current and prospective clients, lead generation, and onboarding new clients.
  • Ensure client retention within targets and apply remedial actions when necessary.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction scores by providing appropriate service aligned with our value proposition.
  • Work seamlessly with the sales support team to enable support for your portfolio.

Deepen Relationships:

  • Prepare weekly performance discussions with Area Manager Coverage to review client contact and relationship plans, opportunities, successes, and support needs.
  • Review and negotiate pricing structures in line with the Absa Pricing policy to optimize portfolio profitability.
  • Cross-sell and up-sell appropriate products, ensuring compliance with FAIS, FICA, and NCA regulations.
  • Drive income growth through new client acquisition.
  • Analyze sales performance monthly and review portfolio profitability, making recommendations as needed.

Risk and Credit Management:

  • Co-manage high-risk client accounts with Risk stakeholders.
  • Maintain transparency and open dialogue with credit, communicating client requirements effectively.
  • Assist in developing credit solutions that are practical and appropriate.
  • Coordinate client reviews and ensure timely completion.
  • Ensure arrangements comply with credit guidelines and communicate special arrangements to credit.
  • Own portfolio risk management, adhering to regulatory and compliance standards.

Colleague and Personal Development:

  • Act as backup for team members during absences or peak times.
  • Stay informed about industry developments to enhance client service and identify risks/opportunities.
  • Maintain CPD hours and complete relevant training modules.
  • Attend economic and business forums to elevate client conversations.
  • Participate in segment initiatives to maximize revenue and profitability.
  • Align personal performance with Absa’s values and vision.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies, or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification, with 5 years’ relevant experience, including FAIS compliance, OR
  • National Diploma / Advanced Certificate in the same fields, with 8 years’ experience, including 4 years with Non-Individuals in Private or Business Banking.
