Private Household based in Mooikloof, Pretoria is looking for a Private Chef.

The candidate will be responsible for developing personalized menus, purchasing high-quality ingredients, preparing healthy and delicious meals to client specifications, maintaining a clean and sanitized kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations and managing grocery budgets.

The chef will also be expected to provide nutritional guidance, cater for special occasions, manage inventory and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion.

Duties
  • Create custom menus based on client preferences, dietary needs and nutritional guidelines.
  • Source and purchase fresh, high-quality ingredients from local farmers, butchers and markets.
  • Cook meals at designated times, ensuring high standards of quality, taste and presentation.
  • Keep the kitchen and equipment clean, sanitized and in good working order.
  • Adhere to all food safety, health, and hygiene regulations and implement proper food storage and waste management practices.
  • Organize and prepare meals for household events, such as dinner parties or other gatherings.
  • Manage kitchen inventory, monitor stock levels and oversee the budget for groceries and supplies.
  • Accommodate special diets, provide cooking lessons and be prepared to travel with the employer when required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of the clients and their household.
Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • A formal culinary qualification
  • At least 2–3 years professional cheffing experience
  • Private cheffing experience will be an advantage
  • A strong foundation in various cooking methods and techniques.
  • A valid drivers license and own transport will be an advantage
  • Proven experience in a professional kitchen, such as a restaurant, hotel, or catering setting, is often required.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and strong time management are essential for working with clients.
