Position: Assistant Principal

Reports To: Principal

Purpose of Role: The Assistant Principal enhances student achievement by providing instructional leadership, coaching, and professional development to teachers and facilitators, supporting the school's educational culture and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coach instructional staff to achieve professional growth goals, designing and facilitating weekly development sessions and individual opportunities.
  2. Set high expectations for teaching quality across all content areas.
  3. Conduct regular classroom observations and review meetings to ensure instructional effectiveness and adherence to school culture and behavior policies.
  4. Implement and extend the South African national curriculum through the network's rigorous curriculum and online learning tools.
  5. Lead assessment cycles, analyze student data, and identify targeted instructional strategies.
  6. Collaborate with leadership on staff management, evaluations, and recruitment.
  7. Oversee onboarding processes for new instructional staff.
  8. Communicate policies and procedures to stakeholders and enforce disciplinary measures.
  9. Participate in staff development and uphold professional conduct at all school events.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Clear criminal record
  • Grade 12 Certificate or PGCE, with SACE registration
  • Minimum 2 years of primary classroom teaching experience and leadership experience
  • Knowledge of labor laws
