Role purpose / Business Unit :
- To support the Consumer Business Unit (CBU) teams in the with respect to Prepaid and Postpaid products, as well as with pricing analysis, reviews, framework, strategy and high level financial models.
- To research and quantify impacts on commercial and revenue metrics resultant from price adjustments or from introduction of new products or services. To collaborate and provide commercial oversight with relevant stakeholders and to ultimately deliver summary outputs and recommendations to the Vodacom executive and senior leadership team.
- To assist in generating a concise and competent pricing framework and the necessary governance therein for use by relevant business units.
- To interrogate service and product creations from other non-GSM business units (DLS, Financial Services etc.) to ensure any potential arbitrage is mitigated.
- To research, gather and quantify impacts resultant from minor to significant pricing changes and product constructs. To consolidate and rationalise findings and present to SLT and CEO and to make recommendations to future pricing strategy and rationalise current portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Specialist pricing strategy recommendations to C-level staff and CEO.
- Analytical and operational support to CBU teams.
- Derive and communicate insights obtained from reporting.
- Support the various contract CBU teams with pricing related activities.
- Perform high level (and in some respects detailed) financial modelling to co-create with Finance Business Partners.
- Review performance trends and identify opportunities on an ongoing basis.
- Determine and review price elasticity for products and services.
- Define pricing frameworks and strategies based on supply & demand, costing, regulatory and competition factors.
- Provide valuable pricing insights and analysis.
- Provide pricing input to detailed financial models and budget/forecasting processes.
The ideal candidate for this role will have :
Must have technical / professional qualifications :
- Relevant B. Sc / in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Econometrics or relevant degree is essential.
- A minimum of 8 years relevant working experience in Commercial and/or Finance - essential.
- Inclusive of 2-3 years in pricing and/or financial modelling - essential.
- Understanding of pricing strategies and principles - essential.
- Mobile communication experience an advantage.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience :
- Understanding of pricing strategies and principles is essential.
- In-depth understanding of overall revenues and direct costs.
- An understanding of revenue and cost recognition and alignment to incumbent accounting standards (IFRS15) advantageous.
- Understand elasticity and market trends within the prepaid segment.
- Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Advanced SQL skills is essential.
- Deep understanding of competitive environment.
