KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS :
  1. Assist the Head / Divisional manager in maintaining and expanding project work within the mining / metallurgical industry and related research agencies, aligning with the Division's business plans. Provide technical expertise and interact with clients, collaborators, and potential partners.
  2. Ascertain client and industry needs; propose appropriate project work to enhance visibility and credibility through quality presentations and publications.
  3. Identify opportunities for innovation and commercialization.
  4. Lead and execute projects requiring advanced technical expertise, interacting with stakeholders (internal and external).
  5. Extract relevant information to interpret mineral behaviour in processing and other environments using mineralogical inputs; prepare reports.
  6. Enhance the team's technical output and contribute meaningfully to the technical quality of deliverables.
  7. Train and mentor staff to improve technical quality, turnaround times, and foster innovative outcomes, thereby increasing the group's value to clients and collaborators.
  8. Execute projects as per schedule, contain costs, and deliver valid conclusions with professionalism.
  9. Ensure compliance with internal administration, including labour and machine time capture, governance, professional reporting, and project management.
  10. Develop protocols and workflows for optimal operation of specialised imaging equipment.
  11. Follow QES procedures to ensure valid and efficient project execution.
  12. Document work and procedures thoroughly; produce professional reports, publications, and conference contributions.
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE :
  • At least 6 years' experience in mineral processing and data analysis related to the duties.
  • Fundamental knowledge of operating in a process environment.
  • Experience with data analysis and research equipment is advantageous.
  • Advanced knowledge of research principles, methodologies, and data analysis techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS :

PhD in a relevant scientific field related to the discipline (science or engineering).
