• Develop and implement long-term and short-term mine plans and production schedules.
• Oversee mine design, stope planning, and ground support strategies for underground operations.
• Optimize open-pit mine designs, including slope stability analysis and haul road design.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate mining methods and equipment for resource extraction.
• Conduct detailed geological assessments and mineability studies.
• Lead efforts in implementing new mining technologies and automation solutions.
• Ensure adherence to stringent safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Manage mining project budgets, resource allocation, and contractor performance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, metallurgists, and engineers.

Requirements

• BEng/BSc in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in mining engineering, with a significant focus on large-scale resource extraction.
• Proven experience in both underground and open-pit mining environments.
• Expertise in mine planning and design software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac).
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, geotechnical engineering, and mine ventilation.
• Demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Superior communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional registration with ECSA or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Proximity to or willingness to frequently travel to the Rustenburg, North West mining region.
