Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of FANUC, KUKA, ABB robot platforms and automation control systems.
• Proficient in simulation software (FlexSim, RobotStudio) and PLC programming.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic planning and execution of automation and robotics projects across the organization.


• Design and implement robotic work cells, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and other advanced manufacturing systems.


• Evaluate and select appropriate automation technologies and vendors to meet project objectives.


• Develop simulation models to test and optimize automated processes before physical implementation.


• Collaborate with internal engineering teams, external suppliers, and technology partners to ensure successful project delivery.


• Oversee the integration of automation systems with existing IT infrastructure, including MES and ERP systems.


• Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for operators and maintenance personnel on new automated systems.


• Establish performance metrics and ensure the continuous improvement of automated processes.


• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for automated systems.


• Ensure all automation solutions comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and environmental requirements in Durban .

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in Automation/Robotics.


• Over 12 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a significant focus on designing and implementing complex automation and robotic systems in a manufacturing environment.


• Proven experience leading large-scale automation projects from concept to completion.


• In-depth knowledge of various robotic platforms (e.g., \"FANUC\", \"KUKA\", \"ABB\") and automation control systems.


• Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., FlexSim, RobotStudio) and PLC programming.


• Strong understanding of AI, machine learning, and IoT applications in manufacturing.
