Placements24 is seeking a Principal Geologist in Upington to lead Exploration & Resource Assessment. The role focuses on geological mapping, core logging, 3D modeling, and resource estimation workflows. You'll guide junior staff and shape exploration strategies, working with a dedicated team of geologists and geophysicists.

The candidate brings a Master’s or Ph.D. in geology with 8+ years in mineral exploration and strong proficiency in Leapfrog, ioGAS, and Micromine.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Geology or related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration geology and resource estimation.
• Proven expertise in geological mapping, core logging, and structural geology.
• Proficiency with Leapfrog, ioGAS, and Micromine.
• Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological mapping and structural analysis of exploration prospects.
• Log and interpret diamond drill core, rock chips, and other geological samples.
