Placements24 in Rustenburg, South Africa, seeks a Principal Machine Learning Engineer (Computer Vision) to lead the design, development and deployment of vision systems for industrial applications. You will own end-to-end CV projects, mentor engineers, and influence AI strategy within the R&D team.

You will work on state-of-the-art deep learning models, collaborate with domain experts, and ensure scalable, production-ready solutions with rigorous testing and documentation.

Qualifications

• Must have Master's or PhD with CV specialization.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in ML and CV engineering.
• Proven track record deploying CV models in production.
• Expertise in Python and DL frameworks (TF/PyTorch/Keras).
• Strong OpenCV/scikit-image/PIL skills.
• Experience with CNNs/Transformers and data augmentation.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and MLOps.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end CV model development from data to deployment.
• Design architectures for detection, segmentation, recognition, and 3D reconstruction.
• Optimize models for real-time and constrained environments.
• Collaborate with domain experts and engineers to integrate CV solutions.
• Stay current with CV/DL research and best practices.
• Mentor junior ML engineers and researchers.
