Requirements

Reports To: Principal or Assistant Principal

Purpose of Role: Teachers drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behavior, and academic growth. They receive ongoing professional development tailored to their experience and needs, contributing to our culture of rigorous, engaging learning experiences.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and deliver lessons in isiZulu (FAL) as per the grade level and timetable.
  2. Provide instruction in various subjects using engaging lesson plans and resources.
  3. Collaborate with colleagues to develop engaging learning experiences and create individual behavioral and learning plans for students, both face-to-face and online.
  4. Lead weekly Social Emotional Learning (SEL) circles and implement the curriculum.
  5. Use SPARK culture and behavior management strategies.
  6. Administer and assess formative and summative assessments, analyze data to monitor student progress.
  7. Focus on student achievement, driving scholars to meet proficiency ratings.
  8. Submit student results data as required.
  9. Attend pre-service and weekly professional development, as well as other training sessions.
  10. Communicate professionally with colleagues, parents, and stakeholders.
  11. Conduct oneself professionally at all events and interactions.
  12. Nurture a high-achieving, supportive work environment.
  13. Attend Saturday events and community meetings as needed.
  14. Implement strategies from the Crisis Management team.
  15. Adhere to child protection, anti-bullying, and health and safety policies.
  16. Promote SPARK Schools’ vision and mission to all stakeholders.

Qualifications and Criteria:

Qualifications:

  • B.Ed. or PGCE in Foundation Phase with isiZulu as a Major Subject
  • Certification from the South African Council of Educators (SACE)
  • Fluency in English and isiZulu
  • Clear criminal record

Experience: Recent graduates and experienced educators are encouraged to apply.
