Are you ready to shine and add value to our clients and the strategic teams? As a research and media analyst, you will provide data- and insight-led reports, articles, and presentations derived from multiple primary and subscribed research tools.

Your work will be shared with strategists, global office teams, media owners, clients, and the broader Publicis Groupe. In partnership with: The MD of Starcom, The Manager of the Research and Insight Department, and The Broader Research & Insights team.

  • Clients rely on our insights team for accurate monitoring of competitive advertising spend data to ensure timely responses and market positioning.
  • Clients, strategists, planners, and media investors depend on our market indicator data (media inflation and economic) for effective budget investment.
  • We develop regular trend and landscape updates to keep clients and strategists informed of consumer behavior changes.
  • Media strategists need to stay updated on media consumption changes across markets, channels, and segments.
  • Strategists require data-led insights to guide strategic processes, develop meaningful communication, and uncover new market opportunities.
  • We demonstrate our impact through brand-lift studies, ad-testing, brand tracking, attribution tools, and Marketing Mix Modeling.

Job Description: The Researcher & Media Analyst must be data-driven and insights-led, with bravery, presence, and the skills to make a meaningful impact. They should direct, inspire, and add value, understanding their impact on business outcomes, and collaborating effectively with teams and clients. Flexibility outside traditional hours may be required.

Job Purpose:

  • Deliver primary and subscribed research reports and presentations aligned with client and strategy briefs.
  • Deeply understand markets, audiences, and segments to unlock growth opportunities.
  • Inspire strategic work in media and communication.
  • Show passion, care, and vision for the brands.
  • Produce award-winning results that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Meet KPI and commercial targets.
  • Support regional and global research and insights requests.
  • Enhance the agency's data-led reputation through research and media analytics.

Weekly Responsibilities: Collaborate with strategists and clients, understanding specific business needs. Typical tasks include:

  • Produce and present competitive advertising expenditure reports.
  • Generate audience and market insights reports for South Africa and Africa.
  • Develop audience tracking and media inflation reports.
  • Respond to global data and insight queries.
  • Create and maintain dashboards in Google Studio or similar platforms.
  • Contribute to landscape documents on eCommerce, social media, and other topics.
  • Share insights via Teams, email, and WhatsApp groups.

Primary Research Tasks:

  • Design and manage research projects, develop questionnaires, and oversee survey administration.
  • Interpret data, write reports, and present insights.
  • Support panel data management and respondent communication.

Business Development:

  • Support pitches with research insights.
  • Seek opportunities to cross-sell research products within the group and attract new clients.

Qualifications & Languages: Fluency in English, with a qualification in communications, research, analytics, data visualization, or media management.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years in media analytics or primary research, with skills in both areas preferred.

Hard Skills: Strong numerical and analytical skills, proficiency in software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), ability to cross-tabulate data, analyze large datasets, and organize multiple projects.

Soft Skills: Receptive to feedback, team-oriented, leadership qualities, adaptable, collaborative, and self-motivated.
