Placements24 is assisting a well-regarded primary school in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, to find a dedicated Primary School Literacy Coordinator. The role focuses on developing and implementing literacy programs across foundation and intermediate phases, with emphasis on phonics, reading comprehension, and writing.

You will mentor teachers, create curriculum resources, assess progress, and promote a love of reading in a coastal community.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Education with Foundation/Intermediate Phase focus.
• Postgraduate qualification in Literacy or Language Education is advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years of primary teaching with literacy track record.
• Strong knowledge of CAPS literacy requirements.
• Ability to mentor and analyze literacy data.
• Experience in curriculum development and resource creation.

Responsabilidades

• Lead development, implementation, and evaluation of literacy curriculum for R-6.
• Provide professional development on phonics, reading, and writing.
• Conduct classroom observations and give feedback to teachers.
• Analyze literacy data to identify trends and improvements.
• Create and curate age-appropriate literacy resources.
• Organize school-wide literacy events and author visits.
• Collaborate with parents and the community to support reading at home.
• Stay updated with current literacy research and best practices.
• Monitor progress using diagnostic tools and assessments.
• Champion a positive reading culture across the school.
