Job Purpose

Designing Huawei Data Center Facilities Solutions, managing the implementation of these solutions as projects, and providing assistance with sales.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Designing
2. Solar PV system design including DC designs, AC designs, main equipment selection for C&I and utility scale plants.
3. Energy Yield assessments.
4. Plant Performance analysis.
5. Shading analysis.
6. AC and DC loss analysis.
7. Cable sizing (DC, AC).
8. PV plant layouts.
9. Single-line diagrams.
10. Micro-grid and battery energy storage system (BESS) design.
11. Battery sizing.
12. Cost estimate and tender compilation.
13. Feasibility studies and assessments.
14. Financial analysis and LCOE calculations.
15. Low voltage electrical distribution network designs.
16. Medium voltage distribution network designs.
17. Supply contract management including scope of work, technical specifications, bill of quantities, tender evaluations, negotiation with suppliers.

Project Management

1. Site assessment during project development phase.
2. Site visits during construction and assisting with on-site testing and commissioning.

Desired Experience & Qualification

1. BSc Engineering (Electrical) or BTech Engineering (Electrical) (Required)
2. 3 years of design and project engineering experience in Solar PV for EPC, Developer, or Consulting environment for large-scale projects > 5MW.
3. Valid driver’s license and own transport.
4. Helioscope: 1 year (Required)
5. Solar PV Design: 3 years (Required)
6. Excellent technical report writing and verbal communication skills.
7. Proficient with PV design software such as PVSyst, Helioscope.
8. Proficient with AutoCAD or similar software.
9. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project).
10. Experience with sizing and selection of PV equipment, BESS knowledge is advantageous.
11. Experience with cost estimates, BOQ, LCOE, financial analysis, and tender document compilation.
12. Willingness to work with various suppliers and partners, assertive and confident communication.
13. Ability to work independently, learn quickly, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
14. Willingness to travel within South Africa and abroad.
15. Experience in Medium Voltage distribution design is an advantage.
