Placements24 is seeking a highly specialized Power Systems Electrical Engineer for a remote-first role based in Rustenburg, South Africa. The candidate will focus on design, analysis, and optimization of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, ensuring grid reliability and efficiency.

The role requires a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems), 6+ years of experience, and expertise in PSS/E, ETAP, and DigSILENT.

About the Role

Our client, a globally recognized leader in energy infrastructure, is seeking a highly specialized Power Systems Electrical Engineer for a critical role based in Rustenburg, North West . This position involves extensive work on the design, analysis, and optimization of complex power generation, transmission, and distribution systems. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and stability of electrical grids, contributing to vital energy projects across various sectors. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed studies on power system stability, load flow, short circuits, and transient analysis.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in power systems engineering, encompassing analysis, design, and protection.
• Advanced proficiency in power system simulation and analysis software.
• Thorough understanding of power system operations, grid codes, and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with SCADA systems and power system monitoring tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage complex analytical tasks.
• Familiarity with power quality issues and mitigation techniques is beneficial.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent international certification is an asset.
