Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, stability, and contingency analysis.
• Develop and maintain power system models using industry-standard software.
• Analyze the impact of renewable energy integration, new generation, and transmission projects on the grid.
• Evaluate the performance and reliability of existing power infrastructure.
• Support the planning and design of network upgrades and expansions.
• Collaborate with grid operators, engineers, and project managers to interpret study results and recommend solutions.
• Assist in the development of operational guidelines and emergency response procedures.
• Stay current with advancements in power system technology, analysis techniques, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting study methodologies, findings, and recommendations.
• Present analysis results and technical insights to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system analysis and planning.
• Proficiency in power system simulation software such as PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, or similar.
• Solid understanding of power system fundamentals, including AC/DC network theory, stability, and control.
• Experience analyzing the integration of distributed generation and renewable energy sources.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
• Familiarity with South African grid codes and operational practices is an advantage.
