About the Role

Our client, a pivotal organization within the South African electricity supply chain , is seeking a dedicated Power Systems Analyst to join their technical team. This role is based in East London, Eastern Cape , and focuses on the detailed analysis of the electrical grid's performance, stability, and reliability. The successful candidate will utilize advanced simulation tools to model power flow, assess system security, and contribute to planning and operational decisions. This position is vital for maintaining and enhancing the stability of the regional power network, especially with the increasing integration of diverse energy sources. Your expertise will directly contribute to the robust operation of the grid in East London and surrounding areas. This role requires a strong analytical mindset and a commitment to ensuring grid integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, stability, and contingency analysis.
• Model and simulate the behavior of the electrical grid under various operating conditions.
• Analyze grid performance data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential areas for improvement.
• Develop technical recommendations for grid enhancements, capacity upgrades, and protection system settings.
• Assist in the planning and integration of new generation and transmission projects.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes, technical standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Maintain and update power system models and databases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system analysis or operations.
• Proficiency with power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
• Strong understanding of power system fundamentals, including transmission, distribution, and generation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
• Detail-oriented and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with the South African electricity market and regulatory environment is advantageous.

Based in or willing to relocate to East London, Eastern Cape.
