Job summary

City of Tshwane is advertising an Engineering Consultant: Power System Information Management to manage efficient project implementation and systems engineering planning across operational management systems within the Tshwane electricity network.

The role requires a degree in Electrical/Information Systems, six years of experience, and a Code B driving licence. ECSA registration is advantageous; security checks apply for the appointment.

Qualifications

• Three-year degree or national diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Information Systems.
• Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) will be an added advantage.
• At least six years’ work experience in a project implementation and systems engineering planning environment.
• Supervisory experience will be an added advantage.
• A valid Code B driving licence.
• Must undergo a criminal record check (fingerprints taken at own cost).

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement projects in the Technical Services Section.
• Allocate required human resources to approved projects.
• Consolidate operational systems and develop system life cycle plans.
• Evaluate and validate proposed projects and alternative solutions.
• Carry out concept and feasibility studies of approved projects.
• Provide constant reporting on projects to senior management.
• Develop and maintain a centralized information centre for accessibility by stakeholders.
