Job summary

Resourgenix is seeking a Power BI Designer/Developer to design, develop and deploy dashboards in a hybrid Cape Town setting. You will build reports, model data, write SQL queries and ETL processes on SQL Server, and ensure data integrity while translating business needs into visual insights.

You will leverage Excel for data prep, collaborate with IT and data teams, stay current with Power BI features, optimize performance, and provide user training to empower stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong Power BI proficiency with DAX, Power Query and data modelling.
• Extensive SQL Server experience, including complex queries and ETL.
• Advanced Excel skills for data preparation and analysis.
• Ability to translate business needs into clear visuals and metrics.

Power BI Designer/Developer - Hybrid - Cape Town based

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy effective Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Design databases and develop complex SQL queries on SQL Server to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources, including flat CSV files and Excel files.
• Write SQL procedures and functions to optimize data retrieval and manipulation for Power BI reporting.
• Utilize advanced Excel skills to manage, analyze, and prepare data for visualization.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data displayed in Power BI dashboards.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand their data visualization needs and provide solutions that meet business requirements.
• Optimize SQL database designs and queries to improve the performance of Power BI reports.
• Maintain and support existing Power BI solutions, including troubleshooting and making improvements as needed.
• Collaborate with IT and data teams to integrate Power BI reports into business processes.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Power BI features and best practices in data visualization.
• Provide training and support to business users on effectively utilizing Power BI dashboards.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modelling.
• Expertise in SQL Server, with significant experience in database design, developing complex SQL queries, and writing SQL procedures and functions.
• Strong Excel skills, including experience with data analysis and manipulation in flat CSV and Excel file formats.
