The UCD School of Computer Science invites applications for an 18-month Post-doctoral Research Fellow position in the area of Data-Driven xApps Conflict Management in Open Radio Access Networks (Open-RAN). This project, funded by the SFI Research Centre CONNECT, aims to develop innovative frameworks for managing conflicts among multiple xApps in multi-vendor Open-RAN environments, leveraging game theory and AI/ML-based prediction models to enhance network performance and reliability.

Requirements

– PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a closely related field

– Demonstrated experience in AI/ML, game theory, or network systems

– Strong programming and experimental skills

– Familiarity with Open-RAN concepts and open-source software development is desirable

– Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

The successful candidate will conduct both theoretical and experimental research, utilizing the OpenIreland o-RAN facilities at CONNECT. The role involves collaboration with industry partners such as Intel and VMWare/Broadcom, contributing to open-source initiatives, and supporting standardization efforts with the Open Networking Foundation and the O-RAN Alliance.

Salary: PD1 €45,847 – €52,339 per annum or PD2 €53,770 – €58,479 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
