The Energy Policy and Modelling Group within MaREI at University College Cork is seeking applicants for two 12-month positions to support Ireland’s energy transition. These roles offer the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and collaborate with national policymakers.
Available Positions
– Postdoctoral Researcher – Low Energy Demand Scenarios
– Responsibilities: Develop and analyse energy systems models (preferably TIMES/IAMs) to create innovative pathways for meeting Ireland’s carbon budgets.
– Requirements: Quantitative research experience in energy systems modelling; strong analytical skills; ability to work collaboratively.
– Research Support Officer – Visualisation & Tool Development
– Responsibilities: Manage modelling tools and develop user-friendly visualisations (using Python, Excel, or web-based dashboards) to aid climate-related decision-making.
– Requirements: Technical proficiency in relevant software; interest in data visualisation; ability to communicate complex information effectively.
Both positions are based at the ERI building, University College Cork, overlooking the River Lee in Cork City.
