Job summary

National Empowerment Fund in Durban seeks an experienced investment professional to monitor post-investment activity, perform due diligence and manage a diversified NEF portfolio for 12 months. You will conduct valuations, risk analyses, liaise with audit teams, and report to committees while applying strong corporate finance, project management and regulatory knowledge.

The role requires leadership in challenging environments and the ability to interact with board-level entrepreneurs.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree – minimum B.Com. (Business and Finance, Accounting).
• Strong knowledge of financial statements, valuations and exits.
• Advanced MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Responsibilities

• Post-investment due diligence and monitoring of investments in allocated NEF portfolio.
• Due diligence on funding applications and committee approvals per DOA.
• Periodic site visits to investee companies; oversee legal compliance.
• Enterprise valuations and impairment calculations; portfolio risk analysis.
• Liaison with internal and external audit; mentorship panel coordination.
• Report back on Empowerment Dividend data; participate in board meetings when required.
• Identify potential non-compliance and default risks; engage with entrepreneurs at board level.
