Minimum Requirements :
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Experience with Unisolv
- Sound numerical skills
- Strong command of English and at least one additional language
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous :
- Knowledge of Retail / FMCG operations
- Additional language skills (3rd language)
- Knowledge of SAP and E-Scripting
- Knowledge of drug family planning and complementary medicine
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines or scheduled substances
- Assist with compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines according to formulas and SOPs approved by a pharmacist
- Assist with manufacturing of non-sterile medicines according to formulas and SOPs approved by a pharmacist
- Re-package medicines as needed
- Assist with stock control and distribution of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines
- Assist with ordering medicines and scheduled substances up to Schedule 6, under instruction from authorized personnel
- Assist with reading and preparing prescriptions, including selection, manipulation, compounding, labeling, and supply of medicines following a pharmacist’s evaluation
- Interpret prescriptions accurately and act responsibly within legal requirements (SAPC guidelines)
- Capture prescription details accurately and verify patient information
- Ensure correct picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medications, understanding common dosages and drug interactions
- Provide patients with correct instructions for medication use
- Stay updated on medical aid procedures and claim requirements
- Ensure all medications are checked and signed by a pharmacist
- Assist and advise patients in the dispensary, including self-medication and front-shop services
- Follow up on script tracking and appointments as directed by management
- Explain medical aid costs to patients
- Provide health promotion information to individuals
- Process paperwork for medical aid claims and correct rejected scripts
- Ensure authorization for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medications
- Maintain and update customer profiles, including merging profiles when necessary
- Respond to messages on customer profiles appropriately
- Report stock levels, errors, and shortages to the dispensary manager
- Receive and merchandise stock according to SOPs and FEFO principles
