Job summary

ARCS in Gauteng is seeking a portfolio-focused insurance professional to manage and grow client portfolios. You will develop pipelines, engage brokers and clients, and lead renewal processes while ensuring documentation and compliance across schemes.

Responsibilities span portfolio performance, cross-selling, product development and close collaboration with underwriting, finance and claims to meet annual targets and deliver strong client service.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years' general business and insurance experience.
  • Insurance industry experience is non-negotiable.
  • Experience in portfolio management, client relationship management and/or business development in insurance.
  • Experience engaging with brokers, clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret financial information, actuarial data and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow an existing portfolio of insurance clients.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential business through client, broker and internal relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to retain, grow and enhance the existing portfolio.
  • Conduct regular client meetings and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Resolve client queries promptly and effectively.
  • Analyse client requirements and review portfolio structures and servicing needs.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities for insurance products and solutions.
  • Participate in renewal processes with clients and brokers.
  • Ensure documentation for insurance programmes is in place.
  • Provide portfolio information and reports to clients.
  • Prepare client status reports.
  • Support claim payments processing when required.
  • Review financial statements, actuarial information and budgets.
  • Achieve annual new business and revenue targets.
  • Identify and source prospective clients and opportunities.
  • Develop new insurance products and structures in response to market needs.
  • Build relationships with prospective clients, brokers and internal stakeholders.
  • Engage with senior client stakeholders (Finance, Risk, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial and Claims.
  • Participate in product development and launch initiatives.
  • Define product specifications and contribute to pricing and income structures.
  • Coordinate documentation, agreements and system requirements for new solutions.
  • Follow up on business inquiries and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with new-business take-on procedures.
  • Market insurance products to clients.

Duties & Responsibilities
Portfolio Management & Client Relationships
  • Manage and grow an existing portfolio of insurance clients.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential business through client, broker and internal relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to retain, grow and enhance the existing portfolio.
  • Conduct regular client meetings and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Address and resolve client queries promptly and effectively.
  • Analyse client requirements and review portfolio structures and servicing needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling relevant insurance products and solutions.
  • Participate in the insurance renewal process with clients and brokers.
  • Ensure that all required documentation relating to insurance programmes and facilities is in place.
  • Provide relevant statistical and portfolio information to clients.
  • Prepare and maintain client status reports.
  • Support the authorisation and processing of claim payments where required.
  • Review and interpret financial statements, actuarial information and budgets.
New Business & Product Development
  • Achieve agreed annual new business and revenue targets.
  • Identify and source prospective clients and new business opportunities.
  • Develop new insurance products, solutions and structures in response to market and client requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients, brokers and internal stakeholders.
  • Engage with senior client stakeholders, including Financial Managers, Financial Directors and Risk Managers.
  • Work collaboratively with Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial and Claims functions.
  • Participate in product development and product launch initiatives.
  • Engage with stakeholders to define and finalise product specifications.
  • Contribute to pricing, cost and income structures.
  • Coordinate relevant documentation, agreements, processes, responsibilities, system requirements and legal requirements associated with new solutions.
  • Follow up on business enquiries and potential opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with established new-business take-on procedures.
  • Market insurance products and services to prospective and existing clients.
Financial & Operational Administration
  • Compile and manage portfolio budgets.
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts, financial performance and new business targets.
  • Review monthly budget performance and report on variances.
  • Track portfolio renewals and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain accurate client and portfolio records.
  • Maintain prospect pipelines and provide regular progress reporting.
  • Monitor project deliverables and financial and actuarial deadlines.
  • Attend relevant operational and business meetings.
  • Provide regular reporting on portfolio performance, prospects, renewals, budgets and key deliverables.
  • Ensure that agreed deadlines and business objectives are consistently achieved.
Requirements
Education & Qualifications
  • B.Com degree or equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Project Management qualification or experience would be advantageous.
  • FAIS compliance would be advantageous.
Experience
  • 4-6 years' general business and insurance experience.
  • Insurance industry experience is non-negotiable.
  • Demonstrated experience in portfolio management, client relationship management and/or business development within the insurance environment.
  • Experience engaging with brokers, clients and senior business stakeholders.
  • Commercial and financial acumen, including the ability to interpret financial information, actuarial data and budgets.
  • Experience contributing to the development of insurance products, structures or solutions would be advantageous.
