Our client, an upmarket hotel and conference center in Pretoria, is looking for a Pool & Water Plant Technician to join their team as soon as possible.

Job Description

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Monitor, handle, and install all chemicals for swimming pools, Jacuzzis, and water plants
• Maintain logs of chemicals added and water tests
• Perform daily water quality testing and water level checks
• Perform daily cleaning of plant rooms, pools, Jacuzzis, and water plants
• Perform general maintenance around pool areas, Jacuzzis, and water plants
• Repair pipes and filtration systems
• Perform annual filtration sand replacement
• Perform daily, weekly, monthly backwashes of water systems
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Order inventory of chemicals, parts, and supplies as needed, in coordination with the supervisor or storeman
• Work with skilled tradespeople such as plumbers, electricians, painters, and grounds staff
• Perform heavy manual labor, custodial, and grounds work as directed
• Maintain maintenance records and schedules
• Perform related duties as assigned

Educational Requirements

Grade 12; relevant trade certificate beneficial

Experience and Skills Required

• Min 3 to 5 years of general pool maintenance experience
• Knowledge of swimming pool and Jacuzzi cleaning methods and techniques (essential)
• Good knowledge of pool chemicals (essential)
• Understanding of pump and filtration systems (essential)
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and painting
• Ability to work with power tools (essential)
• Understanding numerical data and written information
• Ability to interpret designs and understand mechanical and technical systems
