Key Purpose

This role is to assist with maintenance strategies and ensure they are carried out timely. The role involves fault finding, equipment analysis, and problem resolution. The goal is to keep key water systems operational and resolve issues quickly within the SLA for both critical and non-critical areas.

Areas of Responsibility

1. Maintenance Strategies
   • Ensure maintenance strategies are executed for building systems, equipment, water systems, and services (preventative, reactive, statutory, condition).
   • Plan, develop, and conduct preventative maintenance for equipment and new installations.
   • Perform statutory maintenance in compliance with regulatory requirements and Discovery standards.
   • Carry out reactive maintenance promptly, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
2. Maintenance Plumbing Work
   • Identify issues with equipment, piping, and installation work.
   • Perform repairs on equipment and unblock pipes.
   • Diagnose faults in boilers and heat pump systems.
   • Maintain water closet systems in good order.
   • Test water-related equipment such as dishwashers, dispensers, irrigation systems, and pumps.
3. Safety and Compliance
   • Ensure adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, safety, health, and environmental standards, and Discovery’s policies.
   • Ensure maintenance activities are performed at required intervals, complying with regulations and standards.

Education and Experience

• Plumbing skills, understanding water reticulation and drainage systems, minor repairs, and WC flushing systems.
• Knowledge of maintenance strategies (preventative, reactive, statutory).
• Environmental awareness of the impacts of poorly maintained water systems and chemicals.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in plumbing within a corporate or similar environment, working with Geberit systems, high-pressure piping, boilers, and plumbing installations. Knowledge of filtration systems and pumps.
• Qualifications in plumbing or relevant training are advantageous.
