Job summary

Sappi in KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a seasoned Plant Manager to lead the Services Department, ensuring the safe, reliable and cost-effective delivery of utility services that support the mill operations. You will partner with Reliability to maximise plant availability and drive performance improvements.

The role requires 8–10 years in a heavy industry setting with strong leadership and a relevant engineering degree, plus a management qualification. Experience in pulp and paper is advantageous.

Qualifications

• NQF level 8 engineering degree with a relevant management qualification.
• 8–10 years in heavy industry with proven people leadership.
• Experience in pulp and paper industry is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Services Department to ensure safe, reliable utility delivery to the mill.
• Coordinate production continuity and minimize operational interruptions.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce losses.
• Oversee maintenance strategy, shutdowns and asset reliability.
• Develop budgets and manage costs with emphasis on safety and quality.
