A recruitment agency is seeking a Sawmill Mechanical Engineer in Mbombela, South Africa. The role involves managing maintenance resources for Paper and Tissue machines to optimize their performance. The ideal candidate will have a BS/B Tech in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within the Pulp and Paper industry. • 5 years' experience in a similar position with GCC.
• Previous experience in the Pulp and Paper industry will be advantageous.
• Proven ability to manage maintenance resources effectively.
• Experience in implementing Lean Manufacturing principles
• Strong problem solving and project coordination abilities

Responsabilidades

• Manage maintenance resources of Paper and Tissue machines.
• Ensure engineering standards and practices are applied.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing principles to develop maintenance programs.
• Prepare annual capital and maintenance budgets and manage expenditure
• Oversee capital and renewal projects and ensure schedules meet budgets
• Lead projects initiated by the CLIENT and drive change management processes
• Maintain asset lifecycle costs, compliance and SHEQ standards
• Develop equipment replacement or optimization plans to improve performance

• BS / B Tech : Mechanical Engineering with 5 years' experience in a similar position with a GCC
• Previous experience in the Pulp and Paper industry will be advantageous
• SAP PM will advantageous.

Purpose of the Job

To effectively manage the maintenance resources of the Paper and Tissue machines in order to optimize machine availability and performance at Mill.

Reporting To

Engineering Manager

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure that applicable engineering standards, procedures and practices are applied
• Provide engineering and maintenance expertise, as required, in the investigation of failures and problems raised at Client meetings
• Drive the Lean Manufacturing principles to develop maintenance programs and best practices as required
• Compile annual capital and maintenance cost budgetsand ensure that these budgets are managed and controlled to ensure efficient and safe operation of the process plant
• Control capital and renewal project expenditure and implementation schedule within budget
• Manage projects initiated and prioritized by the CLIENT either directly or via contracted in resource/s
• Responsible for management of change and project management processes
• Maintain the plant and equipment in line with CLIENT’S Manufacturing Strategy ensuring that asset life cycle costs are minimized, efficiencies are maintained and legal compliance requirements are met
• Develop equipment replacement or optimization plans to improve performance, reliability, availability or extend life
• Ensure effective people management skills and development of subordinates within areas of responsibility
• Ensure compliance to relevant legislation and SHEQ standards within scope of control
• Investigates incidents (SHEQ) and identify root causes of Non-Conformances and corrects deviations
• Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all time.
