Placements24 in South Africa seeks a dedicated Plant Pathologist to join its agricultural R&D team in Queenstown. You will identify, diagnose, and manage crop diseases to safeguard productivity and contribute to food security.

You will conduct rigorous research, develop IDM strategies, advise farmers and agronomists, and collaborate with research institutions to advance agricultural innovation and farmer support.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Agronomy, or related plant science discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in plant disease diagnosis and management.
• Strong knowledge of fungal, bacterial, viral, and nematode plant pathogens.
• Experience with laboratory techniques for pathogen isolation, identification, and characterization.
• Familiarity with crop protection strategies and agricultural research methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Identify and diagnose plant diseases affecting crops through field observations and laboratory analysis.
• Conduct research on pathogen biology, life cycles, and modes of infection.
• Develop and implement integrated disease management (IDM) strategies, including chemical, biological, and cultural control methods.
