INTRODUCTION

DRA Water is looking for qualified local individual for their project based on the Tweefontein Water Treatment Plant in Witbank, Mpumalanga. This position is based on a Project Based Fixed Term Contract.

DUTIES NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

OPERATIONAL DELIVERY
  • Sustainably maintain plant at its design capacity and quality specification.
  • Ensure the site is managed in terms of operations, discipline and administration on a daily basis by complying to Company and Client policies and procedures.
  • Responsibly maintain the plant equipment and membrane health.
  • Direct maintenance team to conduct preventative maintenance, condition monitoring and attend to breakdowns, ensuring required targets are met. Ensure all maintenance activities are captured on the maintenance information system.
  • Ensure all the plant operations routines and monitoring are complied with. Perform over-inspections.
  • Ensure the necessary plant samples are taken at prescribed intervals and sent to lab for testing. Immediately report any out of specification conditions.
  • Ensure that chemical stock levels are maintained, and that dosage rates are correctly managed.
  • Ensure monthly stock taking of critical spares are performed and replacement purchase orders generated.
  • Drive and manage procurement processes for the site.
  • Ensure a site asset register is maintained and updated.
  • Maintain all site accreditations – e.g. ISO, Blue drop, etc.
  • Ensure the site generates all the required daily/weekly/monthly reports as set out by the site schedule.
  • Daily reporting to General Manager on all aspects of the plant.
CUSTOMER CENTRICITY
  • Management of the relationship with the Client with the specific focus on forming a long term mutually beneficial relationships thereby securing repeat business.
  • Ensure all communication to Clients by means of a daily/weekly/monthly reporting as set out by the client schedule.
  • Maintain a daily diary of events and activities
  • Improve order intake in terms of earnings growth, by understanding customers’ needs and earning a good reputation.

FINANCE AND GROWTH
  • To increase enterprise value, profitability and cash generation in a responsible manner by optimising business performance, maximise internal efficiencies, managing risks and ensure cost controls are in place.
  • Managing budgets effectively in line with project profitability, by demonstrating cost savings initiatives.
  • Timeously provide reports to facilitate financial reporting and control - timesheets, overtime, production, chemical consumptions, invoice information.
PEOPLE
  • Ensure site is adequately resourced and trained.
  • Foster a winning culture through continuously developing expertise and achieving strategic goals.
  • Ensuring effective management of personnel and all levels of staff receive on-job and other training to improve their performance.
  • Ensure site maintains an updated training matrix which satisfies both Client and Company requirements.
  • Lead succession planning by identifying key talent and ensure succession and development plans in place.
  • Lead by example. Demonstrate adherence to DRA values & behaviours.
  • Ensure staff discipline is maintained and managed in a transparent and consistent manner.
SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT
  • Fostering a Safety Culture towards the business goal by actively contributing to building of a safety culture within the group.
  • Ensure staff and site compliance to all Client and Company safety, health and environment rules.
  • Ensure a risked assessed and controlled environment.
  • Ensure the site staff receive the necessary fit for purpose tools to do the work safely and the relevant tool and equipment controls are in place.
  • Ensure all statutory and compliance inspections, PTO’s etc. are timeously completed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSc / Diploma in Chemical Engineering or > 5 years O&M related experience - Essential
  • Degree or Diploma in Water Treatment – Advantageous

EXPERIENCE
  • At-least 3 years Water Treatment Plant Management/Supervision/Operation on mine water desalination – Essential
  • At-least 3 years track record of being able to manage a team of people – Essential
  • Ability to manage Client relations - Essential
  • Knowledge of plant maintenance practices - Essential
  • Budget and cost control practices – Advantageous

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Technical Analysis - Essential
  • Analyses plant and maintenance performance data as well as water quality analyses to assess how to operate the plant and intervene where necessary.
  • Plant Operation - Essential
  • Knowledge of SCADA/PLC systems, assessing alarms and trends to make interventions when required to do so.
  • Performance Reporting - Essential
  • Collate and report on all plant performance data, including physical data like flowrates, recoveries, chemical tank levels, etc., as well as on‐site water quality data results
  • Troubleshooting - Essential
  • Ability to solve problems with plant, staff and client issues and take corrective action.
