We are a battery manufacturer based in Vereeniging and require the services of an experienced maintenance technician that can develop and implement a high-quality maintenance system to monitor and improve our quality management processes to ensure improved plant and machine performance / availability.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop a high-quality maintenance system to improve plant and machine performance.
- Develop planned, scheduled, preventative maintenance schedules for mechanical, electrical and instrumentation (PLC).
- Formulation of Non-Conformance Reports (NCR's).
- Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure improved availability of plant and machinery production times.
- The desired maintenance system must be able to utilise world-class fault-finding techniques, conduct failure root cause analysis and enable teams to perform regular plant/machine inspections.
- Involved in the root cause analysis of challenges using the 5 Why approach.
- Design and implement an effective preventative maintenance schedule that is aligned with our internal production operations using our internal ERP system.
- Maintenance schedule must fit in with our production off time schedules and our shutdown period.
- Identify inefficiencies in our current maintenance operations.
- Creating and maintaining equipment bill of materials (BOM's) based on Maintenance programmes.
- Data analysis – analysing equipment downtime per area and equipment.
- Ensure a comprehensive skill transfer and handover process when the project is completed.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Fitter and Turner or Mechanical Fitter Trade Test, a Diploma, Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a suitable equivalent.
- Advanced Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Basic Condition Monitoring for Specialist Mechanical Artisans.
- At least 5 years in a manufacturing environment gaining relevant experience in the maintenance environment.
- Troubleshooting experience on high-speed production machinery.
- In-depth knowledge in the use of problem-solving methods.
- Full knowledge of Planned Maintenance processes and execution thereof.
- Safety conscious with a good understanding of all SHEQ principles.
- Very good knowledge of ISO standards.
- A strong understanding of electrical systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of 11kV reticulation.
- Excellent planning capabilities.
- The ability to read and interpret drawings.
- Understanding of the interface between electrical, instrumentation and mechanical teams.
- To drive a relationship between the maintenance team and the production teams where applicable.
- Established proficiency in maintenance plan development.
- Be self-managed and driven with plenty of initiative and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Be meticulous about detail and have a strong sense of ownership of duties and objectives.
- Enjoy mentoring and training technical staff.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Very strong personality must be able to stand your ground in confrontational situations.
- Able to handle conflict situations and establish a positive outcome.
