Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Mpumalanga seeks a Plant Engineer to oversee plant operations, ensuring safety and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering degree, 15 years of experience, and the Government Certificate of Competency for Factories. Responsibilities include monitoring equipment, implementing maintenance strategies, and improving reliability. CVs without certificates will be disqualified.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Boilers, Steam Systems, and Power Plant Equipment.
  • Legislative knowledge and management of SHERQ legislation.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot equipment in the plant.
  • Develop strategies for the Engineering Department in line with O&M strategy.
  • Analyze breakdowns to determine root causes and implement corrective measures.

Job description

Plant Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing various equipment that drive processes in a plant, with a strong emphasis on process improvement and plant maintenance, while maintaining safety and environmental compliance for plant and equipment.

Qualifications : Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent, with relevant training.

Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) for Factories.

15 years of experience as a Plant Engineer in a power plant/utilities environment.

Experience with Boilers, Steam Systems, Power Plant, and Equipment.

Related Experience : 15 years as a Plant Engineer in a power plant/utilities environment.

Developing strategies for the Engineering Department aligned with O&M strategy.

Implementing work instructions, policies, procedures, and controls to meet legislative requirements and deliver quality, cost-effective services.

Reducing breakdowns through effective preventative maintenance and plant improvements to enhance reliability.

Overseeing and assessing planned maintenance activities, reviewing reports, and adjusting schedules to prevent breakdowns.

Analyzing breakdowns to determine root causes and implementing corrective and preventive measures.

Skills and competencies include knowledge of power plant operations, risks, and SHERQ management systems.

Numerical reasoning, organization, multitasking, and deadline management skills.

Project management principles.

Understanding of human behavior and occupational hygiene.

Effective communication, presentation, report writing, and facilitation skills.

Team motivation, coaching, and mentoring abilities.

Legislative knowledge and management of SHERQ legislation.
