Job description

Johannesburg / Gauteng / South Africa / Plant Engineering / Full time

The Plant Engineering team is responsible for designing and delivering on engineering plans and projects for all SOAF (Southern Africa) plants.

Most of the time will be spent in Lanseria, supporting the local plants' maintenance teams in the implementation and improvement of proper equipment and maintenance when and where needed.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for defining, planning, ordering, and directing utilities installations.
  2. Performs cost analysis for facility or utilities equipment.
  3. Monitors the production plant infrastructure equipment parameters to ensure operation within accepted, defined specifications including electrical power usage.
  4. Briefs and manages all contractors to either newly install, repair, or maintain the above-mentioned infrastructure equipment.
  5. Coordinates all infrastructure projects with clear objectives and a timetable to ensure that all tasks are completed within time and budget.
  6. Assists in design and coordination of plant layout with CAD.
  7. Reviews plant layout design for compliance with local law, engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements.
  8. Updates our internal ERP system (eMIS) in terms of energy and water consumption, costs, and infrastructure.
  9. Participates in designing, updating drawing layouts, managing, and monitoring small to midsize projects regarding the facility and utilities.
  10. Coordinates and develops facility and infrastructure team / Maintenance team.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  1. Minimum qualification: Technical Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years' experience in FMCG or related industry.
  2. At least 3-5 years' experience in a similar role in the manufacturing industry.
  3. Must have handled projects from start to finish.

Attributes and Skills Required:

  1. Project management skills including MS Project, Excel, and Word.
  2. AutoCAD 2D layout skills.
  3. Profound communication skills.
  4. Excellent teamwork and conflict management skills.
  5. Very good command of written and spoken English.
  6. Familiar with 5S and lean management tools.
  7. Advanced knowledge of MS Office.
  8. Interaction with the production, quality, and logistics teams as required.
  9. High level of energy; must be able to work weekends and overtime if required.
  10. Able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity, and cold.
  11. Must have integrity and fit into company culture in terms of punctuality, attitude, responsibility, department integration, personnel respect, strictness, accuracy, and H&S standards.
  12. Must have a valid passport and be able to travel to different plants in SSA.
