Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Engineer to join a leading beverage manufacturing company.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily engineering operations, implementing maintenance strategies, and ensuring optimal plant performance.

This role requires a strong technical background, project management expertise, and a commitment to regulatory compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechatronic Engineering

CMRP, PMP, or GCC (Factories) certification is advantageous

Minimum 6 - 8 years in an engineering or maintenance role within FMCG, beverage, or food manufacturing

Proficiency in compressed air systems, boilers, refrigeration (CO? / Ammonia), and utility equipment

Familiarity with SABS standards (e.g., SANS) and ASME codes

Key Responsibilities

  1. Implement and monitor preventive and predictive maintenance frameworks to maximize equipment uptime and reliability
  2. Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and enhance operational efficiency
  3. Manage utility systems (steam, compressed air, HVAC, water, and power) to ensure stable and efficient service delivery
  4. Oversee small- to medium-scale engineering projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution
  5. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and food-grade standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP, ISO, OSH Act)
  6. Utilize CMMS systems and maintenance KPIs (OEE, MTBF, MTTR) to drive data-driven decision-making
  7. Maintain accurate technical documentation and asset registers, supporting traceability and audit readiness
