Job description

Job Title: Planning Policy Manager
Location: East London (Hybrid Working Available)
Rate: £500 per day (Umbrella)

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the Local Plan through its Examination in Public (EiP).
  2. Manage the high affordable housing target within the plan, balancing technical robustness with political sensitivity.
  3. Collaborate with the Planning Inspector to prepare for and respond to proposed main modifications.
  4. Engage with key political stakeholders, including the Mayor and portfolio holders, to communicate and justify proposed changes to the plan.
  5. Provide leadership to the planning policy team and coordinate input across departments as needed.
About You:
  1. Extensive experience managing a Local Plan through examination.
  2. Strong political awareness and ability to navigate complex environments, communicating effectively with senior stakeholders.
  3. A qualified Town Planner (MRTPI or equivalent) with expertise in policy development and implementation.
  4. Leadership experience in managing policy teams and high-pressure projects within local government.
