Job summary

Recruitment Matters Africa (Pvt) Ltd is seeking a seasoned Farm Manager to lead commercial pig production in Mpumalanga. You will oversee breeding, farrowing, weaning and growing operations, ensuring targets, welfare and biosecurity standards are met.

You will manage budgets, drive cost control, supervise staff and maintain production records while coordinating veterinary services and carcass quality programs.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Animal Science, Livestock Management or related field.
• Recognised training in pig production, animal husbandry or commercial livestock management.
• Extensive practical experience in commercial pig production.
• Proven experience managing breeding, farrowing, weaning and growing operations.
• Experience managing production teams and farm employees.
• Knowledge of animal welfare, biosecurity, herd health and food safety.
• Experience with production records, reporting, budgeting and financial management.
• Knowledge of feed management, nutrition and feed conversion.
• Experience with livestock marketing, abattoir requirements and carcass quality.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage daily, weekly, monthly and annual piggery operations.
• Manage breeding and farrowing programmes to achieve production targets.
• Oversee weaner and grower operations, including mortality and growth performance.
• Manage feed programmes, feed quality, wastage and feed conversion.
• Oversee pig marketing, slaughter requirements and carcass quality.
• Prepare and manage operational budgets and implement cost-saving measures.
• Recruit, train, supervise and manage farm employees.
• Implement biosecurity, herd health and animal welfare procedures.
• Oversee veterinary services and disease-prevention programmes.
• Manage equipment, buildings, feeding systems and farm infrastructure.
• Maintain accurate production records and prepare performance reports.
