Job description

Description under supervision of a Physical Therapist and in accordance with agency policies, provides medically prescribed therapy.

Provides advisory services to other professional workers involved in client care.

Participates in developing the physical therapy program.

Requires specialized skills and knowledge of public health principles and practices.

Documents each client visit on the appropriate clinical or progress note.

Performs physical therapy procedures on clients as medically prescribed.

Teaches treatment procedures and supportive activities to clients and families as delegated and supervised by the therapist.

Translates exercises into functional activities or activities of daily living.

Assists in developing plans for modifying equipment, appliances, and the physical environment in the client's home.

Regularly confers with the attending Physical Therapist regarding client progress.

Reports the physical and emotional condition of clients and reactions to treatment, and interprets social and physical environmental factors affecting client care.

Explains treatment implications to clients and families, aligning with physician's actions and wishes.

Supports families in accepting responsibility for care, providing information, support, and encouragement.

Helps individuals and families accept and adapt to physical, mental, and social limitations.

Teaches principles of good posture and body mechanics tailored to individual needs across all age groups.

Maintains necessary records.

Prepares clinical and progress notes.

Provides advisory and consultation services to staff.

Demonstrates rehabilitation procedures and supportive activities to nurses responsible for follow-up.

Participates in the PI program by utilizing suggestion boxes, customer service, and reporting issues to management.

Maintains current licensure-related education.

Complies with OSHA, CHAP, State, and Federal standards.

Demonstrates flexibility in workflow, department needs, and work hours; updates management on potential issues.

Consults with clinicians or managers as needed.

Understands the company's scope of services and infrastructure, including call transfer procedures.

Maintains a professional image and uses appropriate phone etiquette.

Participates in interdisciplinary conferences as required.

Submits clinical documentation timely according to agency policy.

Creates a customer-friendly environment for visitors and maintains client confidentiality.

Participates in accreditation programs.

Performs other duties as assigned and participates in in-service programs.
