Physical and Natural Sciences Teacher - Senior and FET Phase (IEB)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Raising the profile of Physical and Natural Sciences in the Senior and FET Phase.
2. Ensure efficient use of resources, creativity, and innovation in lesson development and implementation.
3. Ensure quality delivery of lessons and projects.
4. Contribute to school development as a member of the team.
5. Undertake duties as directed by the Head of School.

1) Quality of Teaching and Learning

1. To provide excellent teaching.
2. To support colleagues across the various subjects and the school to ensure excellent teaching delivery.
3. To support staff in achieving excellence in their work.
4. To deliver outstanding student outcomes and support colleagues in achieving the same.
5. To keep up to date with national developments in the relevant subject and teaching practice and methodology.
6. To advise senior colleagues on teaching and learning and contribute to policy and practice across the school.
7. To raise the quality of learning at the school.

3) Staff Development

1. Work with and support and coach junior colleagues and academic advisors as part of professional development, where required.
2. To develop the capacity of colleagues to produce excellent teaching and learning resources.
3. To work with colleagues in other institutions as appropriate.
4. Update the Head of School, other senior managers, and the Governing Body on the effectiveness of the provision in your subject area.
5. Lead by example as a teacher achieving high standards of student attainment and progress, behavior, and motivation through effective teaching.
6. Challenge any underperformance within the team and ensure corrective action.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a Bachelor’s Degree with a Post Graduate Certificate majoring in Physical and Natural Sciences.
2. At least 5 years’ experience in teaching Physical Science in the Senior and FET Phase.
3. IEB experience is essential.
4. SACE registered.
5. Ability to offer learning support in and out of classroom context.
6. Willing to extend self in professional development.
7. Clear criminal record.
