Job summary

Durban University of Technology invites applications for a Lecturer in Photography in the Department of Visual Communication Design. You will lecture in photography at degree and honours level and deliver studio photography instruction, developing assessments and content for a growing programme.

Requirements include a Master’s degree in Photography (PhD preferred) and at least three years’ teaching or industry experience, plus a strong portfolio and ability to create contemporary content for

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Photography; PhD preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ teaching at tertiary level, OR 3 years’ industry experience.
• Comprehensive photographic studio experience.
• Be able to teach Photographic Theory and Applied Photography at degree and/or honours level.
• Experience with 4IR platforms and online teaching would be an advantage.
• Portfolio of photographic work and teaching materials.

Responsibilities

• Lecture in the Photography Programme at degree and/or honours level.
• Lecture studio photography and assess student work.
• Set and mark tests, assignments and portfolios.
• Develop new content/curriculum for the degree and/or honours programmes.
• Engage in departmental administration duties.
• Develop materials for online learners.
• Participate in research projects and scholarly outputs.
• Attend Head of Department meetings and contribute to committees.
• Publish research outputs or creative works.
